The Village of Fairfax council confirmed and administered the oath of office to Lewis Gordon after adopting Ordinance 5-2021 on Feb. 16.
Council first moved to suspend the three readings and adopted the ordinance confirming an auxiliary patrolman for the Fairfax Police Department. After the adoption the council paused subsequent business so Gordon could be sworn. During the oath Gordon repeated the standard oath: “I, Lewis Gordon, do solemnly swear that I will uphold the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution and laws of the State of Ohio, and the ordinances of the Village of Fairfax,” concluding with “I will faithfully and honestly discharge the duties of the office of patrolman of the Village of Fairfax.” Council members congratulated him and welcomed him to the team.
Why it matters: Auxiliary patrol appointments affect department capacity for patrol and community outreach. The council said the personnel committee recommended the appointment and noted the appointee’s prior service experience.
What’s next: Gordon will serve as an auxiliary patrolman; no additional personnel details, pay, or assignment specifics were provided at the meeting.
