Fairfax police roll out body cameras; one officer retires and a hiring is delayed

The chief also told council that Officer Mike Bingham is no longer employed by the Fairfax Police Department, stating he "chose an option of retiring" after an internal investigation. The chief offered to provide further details privately to council members.
Separately, the chief said the village planned to hire officer Lou Gordon to full-time status but that pension-board medical approval delayed that hiring; staff expect to complete the process by July 9 if approvals are granted. The chief also said the department has increased enforcement activity on parking complaints and citations in recent weeks.
Council discussed traffic counts and agreed to re-run counts after schools reopen to capture accurate loads; the chief said prior counts would be used as a baseline and new counts scheduled when school resumes and after planned condominium development is complete to measure traffic impacts.
