Hamilton Township honors retiring sergeant and names 2025 employee award winners

The board recessed for a brief presentation to honor Sergeant Rich Smith on the occasion of his retirement after nearly 21 years of service; presenters recounted his roles (field training officer, evidence technician, firearms and Taser instructor, detective and sergeant) and contributions such as leading the Paint A Plow program and participating in the Citizens Police Academy. Sergeant Smith spoke briefly and thanked colleagues.
Township leaders also recognized long-serving public works employee Leo Ennis for 15 years of service and named Adam Nunez public-works employee of the year for 2025. Fire and EMS awards included firefighter of the year Gabriel Schultz, EMS person of the year Christopher Stock, officer of the year Eric Webb (accepted by his wife), and the Fire Chief’s Award to Captain Josh Myers.
In a solemn moment, the board posthumously named Officer Megan Graham 2025 employee of the year; family members accepted the award and thanked staff and the community for support following her passing. Trustees and staff offered seasonal remarks and expressed appreciation for teamwork across departments.
The recognitions provide community visibility for township public-safety and public-works staff and affirm departmental morale and continuity as the township proceeds with planned development and operational changes.
