Travis, the Waste Management manager present at the meeting, said seasonal variation affects service frequency: "Our service frequency there this time of year, we usually are 2 days less that we have to go there," describing lower winter use and higher summer demand. Staff estimated that opening Clark Fork five days a week could add roughly 50 cars per day to current flows, raising daily counts to about 200 on busier days.
Commissioners asked about queueing and highway access; staff said there is space between the highway and the gate for a short queue but cautioned that Road and Bridge activity near the site could create bottlenecks. Several commissioners supported a probationary period and seasonal adjustments rather than a permanent, year‑round change.
What’s next: staff will monitor car counts and traffic flow, test a limited/probationary schedule change if operationally feasible and report back with service and staffing recommendations.
