Wayne County Board of Ethics approves minutes, year-end report and 2026 meeting schedule

The Wayne County Board of Ethics approved administrative business at its Dec. 11 meeting, including the Oct. 15, 2025 minutes, the board’s 2025 year-end report, and a 2026 meeting calendar.

An unidentified member moved to approve the October minutes and a colleague seconded; the board voted with no opposition and the minutes were adopted. Mr. Longstreet presented the year-end report, which he said summarizes the board’s actions for 2025. Longstreet noted two formal board actions recorded in the report — a complaint by Miss McGroove against Deputy Derek Anderson, and another complaint involving Miss Terrell — and mentioned additional matters described in outside documents that the board did not treat as formal board actions, including a document from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office corruption division concerning issues with the road commission, and a complaint from Mr. Seals regarding the Wayne County Retirement System. The board agreed to keep the year-end report focused on matters the board formally acted on.

Board members also noted a clerical omission: Maria Mohammed’s name was missing from the draft list of board members in the report. Members instructed staff to add her name before finalizing the document.

The board then considered and approved its 2026 meeting schedule, retaining the regular cadence of meeting on the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. A motion to approve the schedule passed with no recorded opposition. The board recorded that no public comments were submitted by email or Zoom and that no audience members wished to speak.

The meeting adjourned around 9:19 a.m. and members exchanged holiday greetings.
