Walsh County held its 2025 delinquent tax sale during the Nov. 18 commission meeting, calling numerous parcel numbers and accepting competitive bids. The auditor read parcel IDs, locations and minimum bids (the amount owed) for each lot; interested bidders were required to complete a form at the auditor-treasurer’s office before participating.
Bids ranged from low three-figure purchases for small lots to larger competitive outcomes. A parcel with a minimum bid of $1,918.68 drew active bidding and sold for $12,100 after an extended sequence of raises. Other parcels in Grafton, Adams, Fairdale, Lincoln and Edinburgh sold in amounts that varied by parcel and structure status. Several parcels drew no bids and were listed as "no sale." The chair repeatedly reminded buyers to complete the required paperwork next door to finalize purchases.
The tax sale concluded after all parcels on the published list were called; staff instructed successful bidders to finalize transactions with the auditor-treasurer. The county will record sale results and update parcel ownership and lien records per statutory procedures.
The meeting packet contained a list of parcel numbers and minimum bids; the commission did not alter sale procedures during the session.
