During the Dec. 9 workshop, councilors identified priority areas for state engagement: follow-up on the White Bear Lake issue, continued attention to water treatment and long-term operational costs, support for fire-department funding requests, and targeted bonding or CIP asks (councilors cited a possible $5 million request for the Highway 36 frontage road). Staff proposed preparing a concise handout explaining each priority and the rationale, then meeting with area legislators and regional partners.
Council discussed attending the state’s 'City on the Hill' outreach in March and whether staff or council members should participate. Staff will draft the priority document for council review and return it for approval.
