Committee staff reported personnel and operational updates during the RSU 40/MSAD 40 facilities meeting. Brian (committee member) said driver Dave Jacoby will retire next Tuesday and that the district has rehired Matt Simmons to return to driving the southern Waldenborough run, with an expected start date of Jan. 5.
On facilities staffing, Brian said the district has hired a maintenance technician and a night custodian for Medama Bridal School (name appears in transcript) and is continuing to process additional applicants and redeploy custodians to meet needs at Warren.
On technology, staff said BusRight tablets have been deployed to roughly half the bus fleet. Unidentified Speaker 6 described problems with how BusRight pulls family data from the student information system (IC): in one case a parent appeared as a guardian of the wrong child and, in other cases, only one parent showed on the BusRight account, leaving some families without route notifications. IT staff (Cooper) are working to correct data mapping and contact information issues.
Why it matters: retirements and rehiring affect route continuity; data issues with BusRight have real consequences for family notifications and require IT correction to ensure parents receive timely route information.
Next steps: staff will continue to work with the BusRight vendor and IT to fix data pulls and complete deployment to the rest of the fleet.
