Nicole P. Khan elected president as Council Rock School District board reorganizes

At its Dec. 4 reorganization meeting the Council Rock School District Board of School Directors swore in four newly elected directors, elected Nicole P. Khan as board president (6–3) and Ed Tate as vice president (7–2), approved committee charters and named committee chairs and liaisons.
Nicole P. Khan was elected board president of the Council Rock School District on Thursday after the board completed its annual reorganization and swore in four newly elected directors.
The board convened Dec. 4 to administer oaths and select officers. Judge Petrucci administered the oath of office to Cheryl Rickert, Nicole P. Khan, Jim Green and Michael Roosevelt. After roll call, nominations for board president produced two candidates: Khan and Michael Roosevelt. In a roll-call vote the board recorded six votes for Khan and three for Roosevelt, and Khan was declared president.
Shortly after, Edward (Ed) Tate was elected vice president. Tate was the sole nominee; a roll-call vote recorded seven yes votes and two no votes, electing him to the post.
Khan used her first remarks as president to outline priorities for the coming year. "My priorities are to continue the path forward to support educational excellence and student well-being, that is best for Council Rock," she said, adding that the board will continue initiatives including full-day kindergarten, the Heart Safe Schools designation and work on structured literacy.
The board approved charters for its standing committees — education, facilities, finance and policy — after a brief overview by district leadership. Tracy Osecki moved to approve the charters; the motion was seconded and recorded as unanimous by the board secretary.
President Khan then appointed committee chairs and liaisons under board policy 005: Khan and Tracy Osecki were named co-chairs of the education committee; Ed Tate and Linda Stone were appointed to lead facilities; Linda Stone was assigned as finance chair; and Tracy Osecki and Jim Green were named to chair policy. The board also assigned representatives to outside bodies and liaisons: a Bucks County Intermediate Unit No. 22 representative, two MBIT representatives (Anne Horner and Cheryl Rickert), CREF liaison (Ed Tate) and the PSBA legislative contact (Ed Tate).
Edward Tate spoke about the Council Rock Education Foundation's recent fundraising success. "Giving Tuesday was a great success for the Council Rock Education Foundation," he said, and highlighted upcoming CREF events including a Monte Carlo gala and a golf outing to benefit educator initiatives.
With no public comment signed up, the board moved through remaining routine items and adjourned. President Khan announced an executive session with the board and solicitor to follow and said a combined facilities and finance meeting would occur immediately afterwards.
The newly reorganized board will take up committee business in that follow-up meeting; no additional formal votes were recorded in the public session.
