Council Rock board hears student reports; superintendent highlights full-day kindergarten, AI guidance and new school

The Council Rock School District Board of School Directors convened Dec. 11 at the Chancellor Center and received updates from student representatives, the superintendent and several committees before approving routine minutes and consent items unanimously.
Student Advisory Board representatives from Council Rock North reviewed senior-class logistics and extracurricular achievements. Olivia Esposito, the Council Rock North senior SAB representative, reminded the board that “the third and final payment for the Disney trip is due on January 9, and the trip is 118 days away,” and reported that spring signing days will recognize student athletic commitments. Other student speakers described schoolwide fundraising (Student Executive Board raised $7,900), upcoming events, program planning for the 2026–27 school year and career-technical accomplishments at the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT).
Superintendent Dr. Senko delivered the superintendent’s report, saying 2025 “brought steady progress, important changes, and a clear shared focus on supporting our students.” He reported an enrollment of 10,430 students (September figure), called the launch of full‑day kindergarten an important milestone and announced district‑wide artificial intelligence guidelines intended “for the safe responsible use of emerging tools in our schools.” The superintendent also noted the Jan. reopening of the modernized Richborough Elementary School and outlined continued work on structured literacy, special‑education family supports (a reoriented CPAC committee and Parent Compass webinars) and district partnerships.
The district reported community outreach and service: MBIT’s open house drew more than 600 visitors, MBIT students earned nationally recognized ASE 609 refrigerant-recovery certifications, and the district exceeded its Red Cross blood-drive target with 252 units donated. The superintendent promoted Smart Social webinars for families — Dec. 16 on screen time and Dec. 18 on teens, families and AI — and listed calendar items including Council Rock Education Week Jan. 20–23 and committee meetings in January.
Committee reports covered structured literacy and an extensive data review by Dr. Barnes, Bucks County Intermediate Unit developments including a new Pearl Buck learning center, MBIT updates and finance‑committee investment results. Cornerstone Investment Group reported approximately $1.1 million in earnings for the July–Sept quarter and projected $2–2.5 million for the current quarter.
On procedural business the board approved the minutes of the Nov. 13 meeting and multiple consent‑agenda bundles (committee items and routine approvals) by unanimous voice vote. The board adjourned after an opportunity for public comment and board-member remarks.
The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Chancellor Center.
