Board hears update on Corset Building Ventures cleanup; EPA review delayed work

Oak Park Brownfield Authority staff updated the board on the Corset Building Ventures site, saying the authority submitted the most recent quarterly report to EGLE and that project activity was delayed while the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reviewed PCB findings on the property.
City staff reported the project had recorded about $139,000 in expenditures to date and said federal review delayed cleanup work for roughly a year and a half. Staff said EGLE approval has now been received and that remediation and demolition activities can proceed.
Board members asked whether such federal reviews typically take that long; staff referenced an earlier project that took about two and a half years for review. The authority accepted the report and moved on to new business.
