National Park Service reports six new EV shuttle buses; town told to watch for quieter vehicles

The National Park Service superintendent reported to the Harpers Ferry Town Council that the park has received six new electric shuttle buses for its shuttle fleet and will begin operator and mechanic training in Bolivar starting tomorrow. "These buses will help us continue to reduce emissions in our operations and better serve our visitors," the superintendent said.
He cautioned that the EV buses are much quieter than diesel shuttles and urged residents and visitors to be alert while walking, biking or driving near shuttle routes. The park plans a roughly one‑year project to convert the existing diesel bus garage to EV charging infrastructure; utility work along the entrance road to Kevelier Heights parking lot will precede conversion work.
Council thanked the superintendent for the update and asked follow‑ups on integration timelines; no council action was required.
