Bridal Chevlin of Hilton Law Office, representing the applicants, said they had met with surrounding neighbors and revised the proposal so that roughly three‑quarters of the larger rectangle would retain current zoning while two lots fronting Martin Luther King Boulevard would receive Central Business designation. Thomas Riley, an adjacent property owner, confirmed the neighbors had reached an agreement that avoids surprise development in their backyards.
Staff noted the parcel and its revised area align with the downtown designation in the 2025 future land‑use map and recommended approval; commissioners included findings that the proposal conforms with comprehensive‑plan goals such as promoting infill, preserving open space and supporting mixed use. The commission approved the amendment as amended and thanked property owners for reaching an agreement with neighbors.
