Summary
At its December meeting the Greendale School Board approved the district safety plan, budget amendments including a $130,679 DPI reimbursement, a teacher appointment for spring semester, and selected Option A for the 2026–27 calendar (week‑and‑a‑half winter break).
The Greendale School Board approved multiple routine but policy‑relevant items at its December meeting, including a safety plan that must be submitted to the Department of Justice, budget amendments reflecting recent grant and enrollment adjustments, a personnel appointment and the 2026–27 school calendar.
On the safety plan, administration reminded the board that the plan was part of the district’s comprehensive safety work and that it must be submitted to the Department of Justice. A motion to approve the safety plan was made by Unidentified Speaker 7, seconded by Unidentified Speaker 4, and approved by roll call.
Jonathan, who presented the budget amendments, said the amendments include a $130,679 DPI reading reimbursement (50 percent of reimbursable CKLA costs), adjustments for open‑enrollment seats, grant budgets approved by DPI, staffing cost updates and insurance deductible accounting. He said the operational surplus was adjusted from about $492,000 to $482,681. The board voted to approve the budget amendments (motion by Unidentified Speaker 4, second by Unidentified Speaker 7).
The board also approved a recommended teacher appointment for the second semester (motion by Unidentified Speaker 8, seconded by Unidentified Speaker 7) and voted on the 2026–27 calendar. Administration presented two options: Option A (a week‑and‑a‑half winter break) and Option B (two‑week winter break with two additional days later in the year). After discussion and polling of preferences, the board approved Option A; Unidentified Speaker 11 recorded a no vote but the motion carried.
Minutes from the Nov. 17 meeting were also approved earlier in the agenda.
No contested public votes on ordinances or contracts were recorded during this meeting.
