At the Oct. 27 meeting the Council voted 6-0 to refer a request to investigate ways to improve the Taylor Home residents' ability to enter and exit their private development onto Union Avenue to the Public Works committee.
City staff reported limited initial study and recommended the subject go to the Public Works committee so the department can examine options such as signaling or other traffic-control measures. Councilor Soussi and others emphasized the need to hold the committee meeting at Taylor Home so residents and other Union Avenue users can observe and comment. The manager—s office will coordinate scheduling and public notice.
Councilors noted the scale of the issue (roughly 485 residents) and the potential impact on Union Avenue traffic, and asked that the meeting be well publicized because the problem affects the whole corridor.
Next steps: public works staff will schedule an on-site meeting, research options and return to the council with recommendations.
