At its Nov. 17 meeting, the Cary CCSD 26 Board approved several consent and action items: routine consent agenda items (minutes, bills/payroll of $2,224,918.61, treasurer’s report, personnel actions, destruction of closed-meeting audio where applicable), a revised MacEAD intergovernmental agreement and a student-records policy revision.
Doctor Thomas summarized the MacEAD IGA changes, saying the attorney general’s role is intended to be advisory rather than a service partner; the agreement documents mutual support among districts for catastrophic events, including shared counselors and transportation support. The board moved and approved the revised IGA.
On policy 7-3-40 (student records), Doctor Thomas said the district attorney recommended replacing the term “officers” with “professionals” to align the policy with state law; the attorney advised the change is primarily alignmnent and functionally the district’s record handlers remain the same. The board moved, seconded and approved the policy as recommended.
Votes: For the consent agenda and the individual resolutions and policy action items, the board recorded unanimous vocal 'yes' responses among members present; one member (Jason Jancic) was noted absent on roll call.
What this means: Routine financial and governance items were passed as presented; the MacEAD IGA clarifies interdistrict emergency support roles and the student-records policy wording was updated to align with state guidance.
