Edinburg CISD reports 824-student net enrollment decline year over year, staff note modest weekly gains

Freddy Martinez reviewed campus-level figures: elementary enrollment combined at 16,194 (down 429), middle schools 6,503 (down 108) and high schools 9,875 (down 287). Martinez said nine elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools had already exceeded last year’s peak enrollments, and he said the district recorded a modest week‑to‑week increase of 82 students since the prior board meeting.
Martinez noted the district expects up to 155 students who left last year due to migrant status to return. He also referenced that the district graduated 2,395 students in the previous school year. Trustees acknowledged the declines and emphasized continued monitoring and outreach to campuses.
