Edinburg CISD honors 14 campuses for A rating in 2025 accountability system

Dr. Sonia Rodriguez, the district’s chief academic officer, told the board the district had 14 campuses earn an A rating in the 2025 Texas accountability system and invited principals forward to receive commemorative plaques.
The recognition list included Austin Elementary, Canterbury Elementary, Crawford Elementary, Descandon Elementary, Flores Zapata Elementary, Freddy Gonzales Elementary, Mataria Goren Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Mendon B. Johnson Elementary, Alfonso Ramirez Elementary, Trevino Elementary (represented in‑absentia), Memorial Middle School, Edinburg Collegiate High School and Robert Vela High School. Rodriguez said the rating "reflects strong instruction happening in each classroom, consistent student growth, and a commitment to academic excellence by each member of the team led by their school principal."
Board President Javier Salinas and trustees congratulated principals and staff. Salinas urged school leaders to maintain the progress and asked the board and district to publicize the accomplishment. A group photo with board members, executive directors and principals followed the recognition.
The recognition was ceremonial; no formal board action was required. The district did not provide comparative historic counts in the presentation but praised principals for leadership and teamwork.
