The New Bern Redevelopment Commission on Dec. 10 adopted its 2026 meeting calendar and scheduled an annual retreat for Jan. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Development Services Building.
Staff presented a calendar keeping regular meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, with an adjustment in November because of Veterans Day. The commission approved the calendar by voice vote.
Commissioners discussed using the Jan. 24 retreat to handle several continued developer items — 606 White Street, 828 Eubanks Street, 1129 8th Street and 1135 8th Street — and directed staff to place those four action items at the start of the retreat agenda to accommodate developers who had indicated they could participate. Staff said applicants should contact the assistant city manager or Development Services for assistance preparing the required submission materials.
Commissioners also noted additional agenda items for the retreat such as a status update on other redevelopment projects and a report back on a previously sold parcel. The commission agreed the retreat would be used for training and to take up limited business necessary to move developer items forward.
