Putnam County Commission adopts 2024 building codes, sets speed limit and names overpass

The Putnam County Commission approved a set of routine planning and road recommendations, including adoption of updated building codes and a traffic-speed change.
Planning committee recommended adoption of the 2024 building codes and four attached codes; the body moved, seconded and voted to adopt the codes as presented. The road committee recommended setting the speed limit on Overstreet Drive to 25 miles per hour; that motion was moved, seconded and approved without discussion.
The commission also approved the sale of several sheriff’s office vehicles via an internet/public auction (models and years were listed during the committee report) and passed a resolution to name the overpass on U.S. 301 in Monterey the Zachary T. Shelburne Memorial Bridge.
Each item was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. No substantive debate, amendments or proposed changes to those recommendations were recorded during the meeting.
