The New Bern Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval of a rezoning request for 3610 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, changing the parcel from Industrial-1 (I-1) to Commercial-3 (C-3).
Kendrick presented the request on behalf of staff, identifying the applicant and owner as 2 Farms Inc. and providing parcel information (parcel ID 8Dash208077 and an approximate acreage noted in the staff materials). He said C-3 permits multifamily and commercial uses appropriate for a major thoroughfare and that a consistency statement and recommendation to the Board of Aldermen were the requested actions.
Scott Anderson, representing the applicant, said the request conforms to the land-use plan and would support commercial development along the corridor. A board member moved to recommend approval; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The board will forward its recommendation and consistency findings to the Board of Aldermen for final action.
