Board approves personnel slate, policy second readings and committee recommendations

The Dover Public School District board approved personnel recommendations, advanced multiple policy second readings and accepted committee reports on curriculum and governance at its December meeting.
On a motion by Miss Salinas and a second, the board approved personnel items 1–12 including an addendum. Board members praised administration for filling a principal position for the annex from within the district, calling that choice helpful for transition planning.
In policy business the board conducted second readings of bylaws and policies including PO 173 (duties of public school accountant), PO 174 (legal services) and PO 177 (professional services), and later considered policies for student protection, travel and library materials (policies 5336, 1631.1, 5339.1 and 6471). Miss Pinellas noted the board’s belief that freedom to read is constitutionally protected when discussing policy 2005-35 on library material.
Curriculum and student achievement committee chair Doctor Saner summarized work on substitute staffing, the RU AI Ready grant collaboration, new DHS course proposals for 2026–27 (additional AP courses and electives), and planning for the sixth-grade Bridge Academy schedule. The committee moved to accept listed agenda items 1–5 and the motion passed by roll call.
