Mason County offers septic system maintenance and minor repair rebates for Puget Sound and Hood Canal drainages

Ian Tracy, environmental health manager for Mason County Public Health and Human Services, announced a new rebate program for on‑site septic systems designed to improve water quality in drainage basins that flow to Puget Sound and Hood Canal. The program, funded by the Puget Sound Partnership, targets owner‑occupied parcels and limits grant participation to property owners who both own and reside on the parcel served by the septic system.
Qualifying services include septic tank pumping, operation and maintenance inspections, septic tank riser installations and minor repairs (including total row system placements). Each system may qualify for up to two rebates that cover 75% of the cost of eligible services up to a combined maximum reimbursement of $1,500 per septic system.
To apply or request more information, staff directed residents to email cleanwaterdistrict@cleanwaterdistrictatmasoncountywa.gov. Tracy emphasized that grant funding is limited and availability is tied to the specified drainage basins.
