Advisory board hears updates on runway EA, fuel-tank replacement, AWOS and hangar utility changes

Runway 927 extension: Staff reported the FAA has received the county’s draft environmental assessment (EA) and returned comments; the county will prepare responses and resubmit the draft EA. Fuel-tank replacement: staff said replacement tanks have long lead times (about 8–12 months) and the team is coordinating construction to avoid prolonged fuel-farm outages; contingency options (refuel trucks and temporary supply) were discussed. AWOS and lighting: FDOT approved direct purchase for certain AWOS/lighting items but staff will follow grant requirements and next steps; staff noted both projects were included in the same FDOT email and clarified the approvals. Airport signage: the county plans to use BOCC-approved monument sign renderings and will coordinate with the cities of Inverness and Crystal River before bringing final designs back to the board. T-hangar electric meters: staff said the county will install a gang meter so the county bills a single connection charge rather than individual tenant connection fees; implementation is expected to start next month and leases will be amended at renewal.
