The Corinth City Council approved a contract with Child's Play Inc. for $113,044 to replace the playscape at Eagle Pass Park.
Carolyn Seward, Director of Parks and Recreation, said the city solicited public input on three designs at community events and online; the public-selected design includes separate play areas for ages 2–5 and 5–12, accessible features on both sides, and an 'all-play' Brava swing that allows children with differing abilities to ride.
Seward told council the project is funded from the Park Development Fund; $153,000 was budgeted for the project and the contract price came in at about $113,044, leaving the remainder for related site work. She said the playscape would be installed in the park’s existing footprint in late winter or early spring.
Council members asked questions about the swing’s operation and accessibility; Seward demonstrated how the swing’s platform and handles assist users. A council member moved to approve the contract and the council voted unanimously.
