Dothan Commission recognizes local dancers and honors retiring Energy Southeast official

The Dothan City Commission opened its meeting with two community recognitions. Mayor Pro Tem Gantt Pierce read a proclamation honoring select dancers from the Dothan School of Dance who performed on 11/09/2025 at Radio City Music Hall as part of the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular, praising director Ashley Wells and the dancers for representing Dothan on a national stage.

Later the commission presented a retirement recognition to Lisa Miller, manager of external affairs at Energy Southeast (formerly Alabama Municipal Electric Authority). Commissioners and Energy Southeast representatives—including Fred Clark—credited Miller with 37 years in public power and 19 years with Energy Southeast, highlighting her work in communications, economic development and partnerships that supported investment across the Wiregrass region.

Speakers noted long‑term municipal partnerships with Energy Southeast and recent returns of 'smart grid' funds to member cities, funding advanced metering, disaster‑center infrastructure, and a new substation. Commissioners expressed gratitude for Miller’s leadership and for cooperative work between Energy Southeast and Dothan Utilities.
