East Bethel sheriff reports party call, high‑speed pursuit and arrest during monthly update

The East Bethel sheriff’s office told the City Council on Nov. 24 that it handled 413 calls for service last month, including four thefts, one assault, 10 arrests and 147 traffic stops that produced 26 citations.
Sheriff’s representative (speaker 5) described three notable incidents. On Oct. 17 an anonymous call reported a loud party in the 20800 block of Tyler Street and said three shots were heard; deputies cleared the scene, found no evidence of gunfire and charged the party organizer with underage consumption. “Information provided was that there were many juveniles present and they were showing off guns,” the sheriff’s representative said, and later summarized that investigators determined “no gun had been involved.”
On Oct. 18 Deputy Borgeson recorded speeds of 89–100 mph while attempting to stop a truck on Viking; deputies terminated the pursuit on Wild Rice Drive for safety and are following up after the vehicle appeared on nearby business camera footage. The sheriff’s representative told the council investigators “will attempt to identify the driver for consideration of charges of fleeing a police and a motor vehicle.”
On Oct. 19 Deputy Martinez located a person with an outstanding warrant, called the residence and ultimately made entry through an open front door when a struggle was heard, arresting the suspect without additional charges, the report said.
Council members pressed on trends and pursuit policy. One council member asked whether limiting pursuits could encourage others to flee; the sheriff’s representative replied that cancelling a pursuit is a case‑by‑case, safety‑driven decision and that investigators are continuing follow‑up work where appropriate.
The sheriff’s office closed by reminding residents about ice safety as winter approaches and wishing the community a safe holiday season. The department did not announce formal policy changes during the update; pending investigations were described as ongoing.
