Suffolk Council unanimously votes to enter closed session to consider appointments and property

Madam Clerk read the motion citing Va. Code §2.2-3711(a)(1) (appointments/interviews) and §2.2-3711(a)(3) (real-property bargaining). The clerk read the list of named advisory bodies (Early Childhood Development Commission, Economic Development Authority, Human Services Advisory Board, Local Board of Building Code Appeals, Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, Planning Council, Tidewater Youth Services Commission, Wetlands Board) and enumerated the tax-parcel identifiers to be discussed.
Council member Butler Barlow moved the motion and Council member Rector seconded. Vice Mayor Ward was asked to cast his vote during roll call. The motion passed 8-0 and Mayor announced the council would reconvene at 6:00 p.m.
The action is procedural: the vote authorizes a closed meeting consistent with state law. Minutes and certifications of compliance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act will be required after the closed session per statutory procedure.
