The NORTHEAST ISD Board of Trustees voted to accept Superintendent Dr. Mica’s resignation, effective March 31, 2026, and approved continuing his compensation and allowances through that date. Human resources will calculate any accrued leave in accordance with the superintendent’s contract.
Board president opened the matter after executive-session discussions of personnel. A trustee moved to accept the resignation “effective 03/31/2026 with 01/12/2026 his last work day,” and the board approved the motion 6–0.
Immediately after accepting the resignation, trustees moved to appoint Mr. Anthony Jarrett as interim superintendent beginning Jan. 13, 2026. The motion to name Jarrett carried 6–0. The board publicly welcomed Jarrett and thanked Dr. Mica for his service; Dr. Mica told the board he had decided to leave to “put my family first,” saying, “It’s time for me to put my family first.”
The board indicated trustees and staff will work with the interim superintendent to ensure continuity of operations through the transition. No additional personnel actions were announced at the meeting.
