Eagle Scout asks Gettysburg Area SD to audit Main Street Gettysburg grant for Unity Park

During the citizens' participation portion of the meeting, Andrew Adam addressed the board about Unity Park, which he said he designed as his Eagle Scout project and unveiled in 2015. Adam told the board the park has been district property since the dedication and remains part of the district's historical and educational landscape.
Adam said Main Street Gettysburg applied for and received a grant intended to revitalize Unity Park but that, to his knowledge, ‘‘not a single thing was done with that grant to improve Unity Park with the funding.’’ He called this a transparency and integrity issue and requested an audit of the grant so the public would know how the funds were used.
He asked the district to budget for repairs and routine replacements — citing bushes, flags, historical markers and educational boards that he said need replacement roughly every 10 years — and said he is seeking a donor willing to finance annual flag replacements. Adam requested district staff follow up and provide contact information; an administrator agreed to arrange contact and follow up with him.
The board did not take a formal vote or instruction on the audit request during the public meeting; staff agreed to make contact and to gather information for a subsequent response.
