Gettysburg Area School District elects officers, appoints representatives in reorganization meeting

Alice Broadway was elected president of the Gettysburg Area School District Board of Directors at the board's annual reorganization meeting. The board also elected Dr. Al Moyer as vice president and confirmed several representative appointments for 2026.

The board convened for the reorganization meeting, read certifications of election from the Adams County Board of Elections and administered oaths of office to reelected and newly elected members. Certificates listed Donna Harrison, Kathleen Pratt, Justine Sigg and Dave Sites as elected to four-year terms and Ryan Kearney to a two-year term; Belinda Wallen was identified to administer oaths.

A temporary president was named to preside while the official elections were held; the board then received nominations and conducted roll-call votes. After a roll-call, the board declared, by vote, that "Missus Alice Broadway is our new president." A separate roll-call confirmed Dr. Al Moyer as vice president.

The board also selected its PSBA legislative chairperson for the 2026 calendar year, electing Dr. Moyer to the role. During the PSBA nomination, members cited Dr. Moyer's prior service and his engagement on issues such as cyber charter schools. The board voted to appoint Belinda M. Wallen as representative and Thomas D. Fortnum as alternate representative to the York Adams Tax Bureau for 2026.

All formal officer and representative votes were taken by roll call and passed by majority vote. The reorganization portion of the meeting was adjourned after the appointments were completed; the regular board meeting followed immediately afterward.
