Manchester Township board recognizes students, highlights holiday events

The Manchester Township School District Board of Education opened its meeting with recognitions for students and staff and announcements about upcoming holiday events.

At the start of the meeting, a board speaker thanked community members and fellow board members for their support during recent elections and recognized teachers and education support professionals for awards this year. The speaker quoted Neil A. Maxwell, saying, “We should certainly count our blessings, but we should also make our blessings count.”

The board announced two community events: Christmas in the Pines at Harry Wright Lake on Dec. 6 (2–8 p.m.) and the district’s third annual winter holiday craft fair at the high school on Dec. 14. Officials encouraged families and vendors to participate.

Senior Master Sergeant Taylor introduced student government representative Nikki Kistenberg, who delivered a brief student government report. The board and administrators recognized individual students: a Manchester student praised for kindness and classroom work (named in the transcript as Claude/Klaus) and middle‑school athletes Ray and Joseph as student‑athlete representatives for November. Senior cheerleader Katya was recognized for leadership and competition results. Teachers and staff present, including Miss Capone and Mrs. Kelly, were noted during the recognitions.

The district also reported on a community response effort, Helping Hands for Humber, which provided meals and support to the Bala family; the board said the hospitalized family member is reported to be doing well and asked the community to keep the family in their thoughts.

The meeting moved into routine business after the recognitions and announcements.
