Council awarded the sanitary and storm pipelining contract to SAK Construction LLC for an amount not to exceed $758,282.65 and authorized the mayor and clerk to sign the contract, which will run through Dec. 31, 2027. The DPW director said the city solicited six bids and recommended the lowest responsible bidder. The motion passed unanimously.
Separately, the council authorized staff to advertise for bids for two ambulances (estimated at approximately $270,000 per unit) and for a new fire engine (roughly $1,000,000 estimated cost). Fire and public-safety leaders noted long manufacturing lead times (often 18 months or more) and said the department will continue seeking grants such as the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) for vehicle purchases.
