Dalton honors youth state soccer and volleyball champions

The Dalton Mayor and Council on Dec. 15 formally recognized youth teams from Dalton Parks and Recreation that won state championships in soccer and volleyball.
Victor Rodriguez, athletic manager at Dalton Parks and Recreation, told the council the program produced state champions across multiple age groups — including 12U girls volleyball and 12U girls soccer — and thanked parents and coaches for their commitment. "On behalf of Dalton Parks and Rec, we are very proud and very happy that you represented the parks very well," Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez called coaches Dora and Lennon Aguirre and coaches Luis Coronado and Freddy Reynoso forward to present certificates and take photographs with athletes. The mayor then moved to recognize the teams; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The council invited families to remain for additional photos or to return to the lobby; the mayor said the meeting would last about 20 more minutes.
The recognition was ceremonial and required no follow-up action.
The mayor and council continued into the remainder of the agenda after the presentation.
