The Southington School Board approved multiple job descriptions and accepted the superintendent—s annual report during Monday's meeting.
After committee reports, the board considered and voted on a slate of job descriptions brought forward from the policy and personnel committee, including instructional technology classroom assistant; transition department leader (stipended, Title I-funded, listed without a degree requirement to broaden the candidate pool); principal; assistant principal; classroom teacher; paraeducator; and applied behavior analysis therapist. Motions to approve each job description were made and seconded; affirmative votes were recorded and the items were adopted as presented.
Dawn, committee chair, said the transition department leader role intentionally lists no degree requirement to attract either an existing staff member for a stipend role or a community candidate with strong relationships. Administrators noted the position is contingent on Title I funding.
The board then moved to approve the superintendent—s annual report for 2024–25. Multiple board members praised the report and encouraged public review, noting an executive summary is available online. The board voted to approve the report.
The personnel report was also presented and approved earlier in the meeting. The administration said it will post the pupil services director position for 30 days and continue the recruitment process.
