Free community dinner, school archery fundraiser and recent fires highlighted at Radcliff meeting

At the Dec. 16 Radcliff City Council meeting, members of the public and council highlighted upcoming community events and recent emergency responses.
A community organizer announced a free community dinner based on the 'stone soup' concept to be held Saturday, Dec. 20, from 2–5 p.m. at North Hardin High School, listing local business sponsors and noting a concurrent toy drive and takeout options. "This is free. It's open to everybody," the organizer said, and provided drop-off locations for toy donations.
Kimberly Luna described the start and fundraising goals of a North Middle School archery program. She said the newly arrived coach, Charles Bridal, brought experience and that the program’s goal is to allow every child to participate at no cost to families. Luna described projected revenue of about $15,000–$20,000 per state-qualifying tournament and asked the council to consider restricted donations to the school; a council member offered a $1,000 pledge during the public comment period.
The fire chief reported two accidental fires that week: a Dec. 13 chimney fire at a council member's niece's home and a Colonial Drive house fire with entrapment. The chief credited Lieutenant Sean O'Donley for forcing entry and removing an occupant who sustained severe burns and is being treated in the ICU at UofL Hospital. The chief also said the lieutenant was later treated for elevated carbon monoxide and is recovering.
The mayor reported a bomb threat at the Radcliff Walmart the prior Friday. He said Radcliff police and LMPD swept the store and found nothing; investigations continue and the city has leads. "Nothing was found after they did the sweep," the mayor said, and he thanked police and partner agencies for their response.
Council members closed the meeting with holiday remarks, encouraged residents to attend local events including a craft open house and a Christmas dinner at Colvin on Dec. 25, and invited attendees to stay for post-meeting refreshments.
