Summary
The RSU 22 board honored Reedsbrook Middle School’s boys soccer team for raising $13,465 for Northern Light, celebrated Hampden Academy’s Class A cross country state champions and recognized Hampden senior Lily McCloud, who won state gold and placed second at the SkillsUSA national competition.
The RSU 22 Board of Directors opened its meeting at Camden Academy Library by recognizing several student groups and one individual for recent achievements. Superintendent Raymond introduced three recognitions and thanked students, coaches and staff for their work.
Reedsbrook Middle School’s boys soccer program and coach Patsy were honored for a three‑year fundraising effort in support of a teammate undergoing chemotherapy. Coach Patsy told the board the team raised $3,000 in the first year, $3,910 the second year and $6,555 this year, a three‑year total of $13,465. Superintendent Raymond said the board was “very proud of the character you have and what you have done for the school and the community.”
Hampden Academy’s boys cross country team—Class A state champions—were introduced by athletic staff and coach Danielle Johnson. Johnson described a season with injuries and illness but said the team’s depth and determination produced an unexpected state title; student captains and several athletes addressed the board and credited the coaching staff for their support.
The board also recognized Hampden senior Lily McCloud for competitive success in SkillsUSA. McCloud said she won gold at the state level in the UTC business leadership competition and finished second at the national SkillsUSA competition in Atlanta. She described the competition process—preparing a portfolio and a resume and completing an in‑person interview—and said the experience helped clarify her career goals.
Board members took photos with each group and offered congratulations before moving on to the rest of the agenda.
