Kendall Kanoke of the engineering department told the commission the package contains four change orders: (1) adding a sanitary manhole because the connection stub was at the wrong elevation ($5,225); (2) side-slope stabilization (amount described in exhibits); (3) additional conduit to avoid future utility impacts ($2,560); and (4) a larger adjustment (about $42,977.50) linked to a consultant—s undercount in the quantity takeoff for gate valves, sanitary laterals, storm inlets and conduit. Kanoke said the larger item represents materials and quantities that would have been included had the original takeoff matched the plan.
A commissioner asked for clearer resolution exhibits and a single total in the document; legal staff explained the exhibits collectively form change order package number 1. Kanoke said the contractor is currently in liquidated damages for schedule delays and that some surface work (stripe markings) will be completed next spring when weather permits. He added that the overall project remains likely to be a little under the original estimated total once balancing change orders are processed.
The motion to approve the change order package passed by voice vote.
