Stephens County recognizes Blake Day as employee of the year; Christian Hamilton receives Chairman's Award

Stephens County commissioners opened their meeting by presenting two county awards and then moved into the evening's business.

Blake Day was named Stephens County’s 2025 Employee of the Year. In remarks read by the chair, colleagues credited Day with a strong work ethic, countywide support and a willingness to help across departments — from mowing more than 100 acres at the landfill to repairing facilities and installing courthouse decorations. The chair noted Day “consistently goes above and beyond” and congratulated him on the recognition.

The board then presented the 2025 Chairman’s Award to county administrator Christian Hamilton. In prepared comments, colleagues described Hamilton as “demonstrat[ing] outstanding leadership” and “approach[ing] his role … with quiet confidence and professionalism.” Chris Raney and a staff member identified as Samantha each offered personal tributes to Hamilton’s guidance and support. The chair said it was an honor to present the award.

After the presentations the board began a land-use public hearing and proceeded with scheduled agenda items.
