Council directs Wyoming Community Gas distributions to local nonprofits, adds Robbie's House
Summary
The council approved allocations of Wyoming Community Gas distributions: $7,500 each to Laramie Interfaith, Downtown Clinic and the Soup Kitchen, and $2,474.61 to Robbie's House on a finance-committee recommendation; the council noted Robbie's House's expanded mental-health services.
Councilor Newman moved and the council approved allocations of Wyoming Community Gas distribution funds to several local nonprofits.
Administrative Services Director Jennifer Wade explained those distributions are a return of earnings to member communities and that Laramie has participated since 2002. "The Wyoming Community Gas Board will be awarding $10,000 in grant funding at their board meeting in March," Wade said, and the city receives a distribution annually that the finance committee recommends allocating.
The finance committee recommended $7,500 each to Laramie Interfaith, Downtown Clinic and the Laramie Soup Kitchen, and $2,474.61 to Robbie's House "because they've really noticed this organization providing expanded services," Wade said, noting the council's interest in supporting mental-health-related efforts. Councilors voiced support for the addition of Robbie's House and thanked nonprofits for their work.
The council approved the allocations by roll call vote, 9-0, and authorized the mayor to sign.
