The Davidson County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 8 approved a rezoning request by Lester Construction, care of Josh Lester, to change roughly 0.89 acres in Abbotts Creek Township from RA3 (Rural Agricultural) to CZRC (Conditional Zoning Rural Commercial).
Planning staff read the legal description and recommended approval, saying the change mirrors an earlier rezoning for the adjacent lot and would allow the owner to add a restroom and meet percolation requirements necessary to operate his construction business on the site.
Josh Lester told the board that the change is "basically making sure that I can get parkable property to put a bathroom on there" and that the site will support his small residential remodeling business. Planning staff described proposed conditions including routine ground maintenance, designated exterior storage and parking areas, building aesthetics, appropriate lighting, drainage improvements and restricted hours of operation (Monday'Saturday, 7 a.m.'7 p.m.).
A motion to adopt a statement of consistency and approve the rezoning carried on a voice vote. The planning justification cited the county's land development plan and nearby nonresidential uses as supportive context for the conditional rural commercial district.
No members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing; the board recorded the approval by voice vote and congratulated the applicant.
