Goose Creek CISD board unanimously approves Dr. Joe Rodriguez as superintendent

The Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve an employment agreement and relocation package to hire Dr. Joe Rodriguez as the district's next superintendent.

Board President Campisi moved to approve the Employment Agreement and Relocation Agreement as discussed in closed session; Mrs. Brott Timbs seconded the motion, which passed by unanimous voice/show-of-hands. President Campisi then invited Dr. Rodriguez to speak to the board and public.

Dr. Rodriguez thanked the trustees and district staff and said he had spent several days meeting staff, community members and students, and that he was "excited" and "ready to get started" during a transitional period before assuming full duties. He publicly thanked outgoing Superintendent Dr. O'Brien and the search firm representative David Thompson for helping ensure a fair process.

Trustees offered brief remarks welcoming Dr. Rodriguez. Vice President Clem and multiple trustees praised the search process and the candidate's fit for the district; several trustees emphasized the team effort behind the hire and expressed optimism about the district's future under new leadership.

Next steps: trustees recessed briefly to complete documents and indicated a short transition period during which Dr. Rodriguez will finalize details with his current district before beginning in the Goose Creek role. No additional formal actions about the hire were taken at the meeting.
