Community support: The board approved $4,000 in community‑support funding for Domestic Violence Intervention (DBI) for fiscal year 2025–26. Staff said the $4,000 award aligns with a budgeted community‑support line item.
Operations and appointments: Commissioners authorized a $17,230.14 service agreement with Empire Power Systems for annual preventive maintenance on 14 county backup generators, splitting the cost between Facilities & Grounds and the Public Works water/wastewater budgets. They also appointed Dennis Mills to a Planning Commission seat for a four‑year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026.
Transportation staffing: Social Services staff presented operations and ridership statistics for the newly county‑run Churchill Area Regional Transportation (CART) program (738 rides in October, 615 for seniors). The board approved converting two casual drivers to full‑time transportation specialists and adding one clerical specialist to complete dispatch, and authorized the hiring process.
What happens next: Staff will carry out approved contracts, recruitment and position fills; the county will process appointment paperwork for the Planning Commission seat and continue oversight of community grants and CART operations.
