Students from John F. Kennedy Memorial High School and the district student representative reported a string of student activities and community service efforts at the Dec. 18 Woodbridge Board of Education meeting.

Student representative Gatlin Carr, introduced by Superintendent Dr. Massimino, summarized holiday concerts, food drives, volunteer initiatives and school performances across the district. Carr highlighted that students and school groups participated in World Kindness Day, winter concerts, food collections for local pantries and other school events.

Students Liam Chang and a fellow JFK student described FCCLA participation at a state fall leadership conference, reporting a total of 34 medals across events (21 gold, 10 silver, 3 bronze) and describing fundraising and service outcomes. They said the chapter collected thousands of food items and pull tabs on the state level, and raised $1,600 for Covenant House to support youth. The students also described an Angel Tree initiative at JFK that solicits donated gifts; they asked the board to publicize an Amazon wish list to support the drive.

Board members applauded the students and asked that the Amazon gift list be emailed to district staff so the list can be shared more widely. Superintendent Massimino offered to forward materials as needed. The board offered holiday wishes and thanked students for their service.
