The Richland 01 Board of School Commissioners on Nov. 11 approved a midyear, one-time incentive payment for employees. The administration proposed a net payment of $500 for current full-time employees and $250 for permanent part-time employees and asked the board to reallocate a portion of the FY24 general fund balance to cover the estimated $3,400,000 cost.
"The administration requests approval to provide a midyear incentive payment of $500 net to all current and full time employees. Permanent part time employees will receive a midyear incentive payment of $250 net," the presenter said.
Employees must be employed by the district on or before Dec. 1, 2025 and remain employed when the payment is issued; the administration said payments will be issued on or before Dec. 22, 2025. The board approved the request unanimously by voice vote.
Board members praised the measure for recognizing staff and part-time employees and asked that district leaders consider how such incentives might be sustained or otherwise incorporated into longer-term compensation planning.
