The Bibb County Regular School District board at a regular meeting approved a one-time extraordinary compensation supplement for second-semester employees and, after an executive session on student discipline, voted to place a student on homebound services for the remainder of the 2025–26 school year.
The board approved a one-time payment of $500 plus benefits for full-time employees and $250 plus benefits for permanent part-time employees for the second semester. The motion to authorize the supplement was made, seconded, and adopted by voice vote. The superintendent characterized the item as an extraordinary supplement for second-semester employment and presented it as a recommendation for approval.
The action followed routine business that included approval of minutes from the Nov. 4, 2025 meeting; receipt of financial reports and bank reconciliations for October and November 2025; approval of bills and payroll for October and November 2025; and multiple consent agenda items covering contracts, services, trips, and personnel matters.
During the regular agenda the board also approved several personnel actions: the transfer of Susan Smelly to a special education teaching position at Centerville Middle School effective Jan. 5, 2026; the employment of Kelly Fondren as a Child Nutrition Program worker at Centerville Middle School effective Jan. 6, 2026; and volunteer and payment items tied to extracurricular activities, including a concession-worker payment to Sharnikia Pelt to be paid from Bibb County High School booster funds, judge payments and choreography fees for majorette tryouts at Centerville Middle School, and approval of Jonathan Jennings as a volunteer softball coach at West Lawton Middle School.
The board entered executive session to discuss student discipline; upon returning, the superintendent recommended that “Student A be placed on homebound services for the remainder of the 2025–26 school year.” The board voted on that recommendation and approved the placement. The meeting record indicates the executive session lasted approximately 20 minutes.
The superintendent also announced approved leaves: paid parental and family medical leave for Amber Epperson (custodian, Brent Elementary School) and Sarah Gurley (counselor, Randolph Elementary School) for up to eight weeks, and for Daryl Ryan Epperson (maintenance) up to two weeks; catastrophic sick leave approvals were announced for Dennis Mitchell (bus driver) and Latonya Cruz (CNP worker) with durations stated in the personnel list.
Superintendent remarks highlighted recent school walkthroughs and praised teachers’ efforts; the superintendent said midyear data and principal reports on school performance will be available at the start of next year. The board scheduled a work session for Jan. 8, 2026, at 1 p.m. and its next meeting for Jan. 13, 2026, at 5 p.m. The meeting adjourned following a voice vote.
