The policy committee presented three policies for board review; trustees discussed specific edits including wording, capitalization, comma placement and program names (one trustee suggested replacing the term "pronto" with "rapid readers" in circulation sections). The board moved to approve the room-use policy with the additional changes and then approved the circulation policy with the corrections noted.
Trustees raised operational questions about access to the Technology and Learning Center and whether certain card types (teacher cards, business accounts) are restricted for in-library use. The director said teacher cards are intended for in-house use and that limiting access to some digital platforms is not practical under current systems. The director offered to provide counts of cardholder types at a future meeting.
Board members also asked staff to run final text edits for consistency (capitalization of "Simsbury Public Library" vs. generic "library," punctuation fixes and sentence breaks) before final publication and to route policies to the town attorney where appropriate. The motions to approve the policies carried by voice vote.
