David Vincent, superintendent of Conroe ISD, said the district will publish a calendar-selection timeline, run online surveys and use a committee to collect community input. “Look for these surveys. Fill it out. Give us good feedback because it matters. This is your calendar,” Vincent said.
Board President Misty Odenweiler said trustees are weighing how closures affect the district’s changing demographics and community: “Our district is growing demographically and becoming more diverse and more socioeconomically diverse. We’re getting close to to 50 50 now in our so eco disc ratings in our district. So every time we shut down here, it affects the whole community,” she said, noting closures affect businesses, traffic and families without paid leave.
Odenweiler also highlighted staff well‑being as a central calendar consideration, saying breaks support teaching staff health and instructional quality. Vincent said the board will not adopt a two‑year calendar now because district conditions change frequently and the board prefers an annual review.
The district framed the process as iterative; no final calendar was announced during the Boardroom Brief and the schedule for public input was described as forthcoming.
