Construction on Murray High and junior high proceeding; small steel delay reported
Summary
Director Taggart told the board masonry is nearly complete at the high school, steel and trusses are being installed, and the junior high experienced a roughly two-week steel delivery delay but remains on schedule with decking and an imminent concrete pour.
Director Taggart gave the board an update on bond-funded construction at the high school and the junior high. He reported that work at the high school is progressing: masons are nearly finished, steel is being placed on the third floor, trusses are going up for the roof, and first-floor framing plus rough plumbing and ductwork are largely complete.
Taggart said the junior high also remains on schedule despite a “small two-week delay” in steel deliveries; all structural steel and decking are now on site and crews expect to pour the deck the following week. He described active work on footings, rough plumbing and locker-room areas, and noted crews are coordinating pours and decking work across different project zones.
Board members who toured the sites described seeing the sequencing of trades and the curing methods used for concrete pours; Taggart explained some night-time burners and visqueen coverings are used to maintain temperatures for proper curing, which can appear to onlookers as glow or smoke but are construction precautions.
Taggart said the projects continue to be monitored and reported as on schedule.
