John Pysick, chief executive officer of the Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency, opened a public hearing to receive public comment on a proposed project for the Herkimer Local Development Corporation that would involve acquisition of a lease interest and the existing building at 17 North Washington Street in the Town and Village of Herkimer. Pysick said the work would include renovations and the acquisition of furniture, fixtures, machinery and equipment and that the agency is contemplating financial assistance that could exceed $100,000.
The hearing is part of the agency’s process under the General Municipal Law (Article 18-A as cited in the hearing) that requires a public hearing before the agency provides financial assistance in excess of $100,000 to a project. Pysick said the agency adopted a resolution on Nov. 25, 2025, authorizing him to hold the public hearing and that notices were mailed and published on Dec. 5, 2025. "My name is John Pysick, and I'm the chief executive officer of the Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency," he said. He also told attendees that "no written comments have been received by the agency prior to the public hearing."
Pysick gave the project location as 17 North Washington Street and cited the tax map number reported in the hearing as 20-120.25-2-14. He said the certified resolution and notice were mailed to Herkimer County, the Town and Village of Herkimer and the Herkimer Central School District, published in the Times Telegram and posted on the agency website and on a public bulletin board at the Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce, 420 East Jermas Street, Suite 101A. Pysick proposed waiving a full oral reading of the notice and inserting the text from the website into the public record.
The agency opened a brief public comment period; the transcript records only a short exchange and no substantive public testimony. The hearing was opened for comments at about 8:35 a.m. and closed at 8:44 a.m. Pysick noted the agency will consider the proposed project and any comments received at a subsequent agency meeting currently scheduled for Dec. 18 at 8 a.m.
The next steps are administrative: the agency will review any record of comments and consider whether to provide the financial assistance at its Dec. 18 meeting. The transcript indicates no written comments were filed before the hearing and no vote or final determination on assistance was taken at this session.
